A 2024 Guide To Wizz Air Cabin Bag Size & Baggage Allowance
Looking for a cabin bag to fly Wizz Air? Well, here it is! Your guide to every essential information you need to know about Wizz Air baggage allowance to pack efficiently and, most importantly, to avoid last-minute surprises.
With a wide range of destinations across Europe and beyond and low fares, Wizz Air is loved by many enthusiastic travellers, especially ones who are mindful of their budgets.
However, even with cheaper tickets, a trip can still be a burden on your pocket if you aren’t aware of Wizz Air’s (or, generally speaking, many other airlines) baggage policy.
Thinking a kilogram overweight and two centimetres oversized is no big deal? It is. The more excessively you pack, the more you have to pay.
Your safest bet is to understand their baggage guidelines clearly and opt for bags that are made cabin-sized, hassle-free and durable. Here’s a good spot to start.
What Size Is The Cabin Bag On Wizz Air?
Travelling with carry-ons is a great way to keep things budget-friendly and, of course, lightweight. It can save you from so many troubles along the way, such as losing your checked bag or not fitting to go on public transport.
However, it can be a bit of a headache because airlines’ carry-on guidelines tend to be quite complicated. Fortunately, Wizz Air cabin baggage allowance, on the other hand, is pretty easy to follow. They are straightforward in what you can and cannot bring on board.
For each passenger, you’re allowed to carry:
- One free small hand luggage, which must fit under the seat in front of you. The maximum dimension of your bag must not exceed 40 x 30 x 20 cm / 16 x 12 x 8 in, and it must weigh less than 10 kilograms/22 pounds.
- One extra trolley bag if you buy a Wizz Priority, which must fit in the overhead compartment. The trolley bag must not be bigger than 55 x 40 x 23 cm/22 x 16 x 9 in and must not weigh more than 10 kilograms/22 pounds.
Hand luggage means a backpack, a purse, a laptop bag or any other similar item below the dimension limit.
A trolley bag means a backpack, a small suitcase, a wheeled backpack, or any other similar item that is bigger than a small hand luggage but not big enough to be in checked baggage.
The above dimensions don’t include handles and wheels. However, the low-cost airline states that “wheels must add no more than 5 cm to the size of the bag”.
Is Wizz Air Strict With Hand Luggage Allowance?
Similar to other airlines, Wizz Air does measure passengers’ carry-ons strictly. This means that all carry-on bags must comply with their cabin baggage policy, which includes not exceeding 40 x 30 x 20 cm in size and 10 kilograms in weight.
If you have a Wizz Priority, you can carry an extra trolley bag, which must also follow the size and weight allowance of 55 x 40 x 23 cm and 10 kilograms.
Wizz Air cabin bag size and weight are important to know before flying.
What is Wizz Air’s Wizz Priority?
Travelling with more than one carry-on bag? Try adding the Wizz Priority to your booking. Think of the Wizz Priority as an optional add-on service that offers more comfort and, as the name says, priority to travellers before flying.
One of the main perks of the Wizz Priority is the allowance of a trolley bag as an extra carry-on. Wizz Priority holders are able to bring two carry-ons onboard, one small (under 40 x 30 x 20 cm) and one big (under 55 x 40 x 23 cm) with or without wheels.
Other benefits are fast-track security checks and priority boarding. When you purchase a Wizz Priority, you can board the plane before other passengers and go through a quicker security screening process.
You can buy Wizz Priority as you book your ticket or later on Wizz Air’s website and mobile app for as low as €0.00 to €58.80. Or, purchase it at the airport for €55.00. Consider getting Wizz Priority if you’re travelling during peak tourist season.
Does Wizz Air Measure Wheels On Cabin Bags?
Wizz Air allows bags with wheels to be carry-on bags. The size limit of 40 x 30 x 20 cm for small hand luggage and 55 x 40 x 23 cm for trolley bags do not include the size of wheels and handles on bags.
However, keep in mind that wheels and handles must not add more than 5 cm to the size of the bag. For example, you’re travelling with a 40 x 30 x 20 cm wheeled backpack, and it has two wheels at the bottom. The maximum handle-to-wheel size that is allowed on the plane is, let’s say, 45 x 30 x 20 cm.
The Perfect Wizz Air Cabin Bag For Easy Packing
To avoid being oversized due to wheel or handle size, we recommend using the available cabin bag size and weight check units at the airport before checking in. Or, to keep things simpler and swifter, pack using a Wizz Air cabin-sized bag.

Wizz Air Check-in Baggage Allowance
Wizz Air is known for having a more “breathable” baggage allowance as they allow more bags to be checked in as long as they do not exceed the size and weight limit.
For each passenger putting their bags in the cargo hold, they are allowed to check in:
- Up to 6 bags of checked baggage with a weight limit of 10 kilograms, 20 kilograms, 26 kilograms and 32 kilograms. The total weight of six bags must not exceed the weight limit. If you’re carrying six bags, one of them can be 10 kilograms.
- Checked bags cannot exceed 149 x 119 x 171 cm in dimension
- Checked baggage has to be purchased before checking in. Wizz Air offers a weight bundle of 1 bag of 10 kg, 6 bags of 20kg, 6 bags of 26 kg, or 6 bags of 32 kg.
If you’re travelling with small children, you can check in for free one baby stroller per child.

What Is Wizz Air-Checked Bag Allowance For Economy?

Wizz Air does not have Business or higher cabin class for their flights. All seats are in Economy class. But their benefits are separated by price fares. The higher the fares, the more benefits you can receive.
That’s one of the charms that make them ideal for budget easy-going travellers. You get what you pay for, basically. With other airlines in the higher price range, sometimes you don’t even get the chance to enjoy all the benefits before reaching your destination.
With that being said, when you purchase a Wizz Air ticket, your basic baggage allowance in Economy for carry-on luggage will be one free small carry-on ( no more than 40 x 30 x 20 cm in size and 10 kg in weight).
With the Wizz Priority, you’re allowed one additional trolley bag (no more than 55 x 40 x 23 cm in size and 10 kg in weight).
As for checked bags, you can buy your checked baggage packages with your ticket. They can be 1 bag of 10 kg, 6 bags of 20 kg, 6 bags of 26 kg, or 6 bags of 32 kg.
Wizz Priority For Checked Baggage
Wizz Priority is an add-on service package for carry-on luggage, fast track security and priority boarding. To purchase checked baggage allowance, you can choose higher fare bundles, which include more services for a better price:
The Wizz Go fare is more expensive and includes more benefits, such as 2 carry-ons, 20 kilograms of checked baggage and seat selection. Wizz Go tickets are good for longer holidays or travelling in a small group.
For an A-to-Z service package, there’s the Wizz Plus that allows 2 carry-ons, up to 32 kilograms of checked baggage, free and priority check-in, and free flight date change.
How To Book Tickets And Check-in With Wizz Air
Booking tickets is easy with Wizz Air.
Wizz Air is a budget airline, so their tickets are often much more affordable than those of the big names out there. This makes them a go-to airline for low-cost travellers flying around Europe, to and from the Middle East or North Africa.

The easiest way is to buy from their website, as it offers deals and bundles faster. Just log into their booking site, find your dates and destinations, and available tickets will pop up for you to choose from.

FAQs - Wizz Air Cabin Bag Size And Baggage Allowance
Whether you’re a newbie flyer or a seasoned traveller with Wizz Air, there is always room for questions about cabin bag size and checked bag allowance in general. It’s hard to keep track of all the essential information, especially when it’s constantly being updated.
Here are a few frequently asked questions about Wizz Air baggage allowance that you may find useful, and, who knows, you might be asking them for your next trip!
1. How Much Is Extra Baggage With Wizz Air?
Wizz Air allows passengers to board with excess baggage. If your carry-ons are overweight, even with the Wizz Priority, excess baggage has to be checked in. If your checked baggage is overweight, you will have to pay a fee of €13.00 per excess kilogram.
Some airports only accept this fee to be paid by credit or debit card, so your safest bet is to weigh your bags at home and prepare some money in your cards.
CabinZero’s tip to avoid extra baggage fee: Pack using cabin-sized bags. They can partially give you a rough idea of how much stuff you can fit into one bag without being overweight. It’s better than to use an inappropriate bag and risk packing way too much.
2. Does Wizz Priority Allow More Liquids?
Wizz Air follows the regular standard liquid rules, which, as many travellers may know, are the 3-1-1 liquid rules. This means that each passenger is only allowed to bring a total of 3.4 punches of liquid on board; they must be placed in 1 clear bag with a capacity of 1 litre, and each passenger can only bring 1 bag of liquids. Hence, it’s called the 3-1-1 rule.
Wizz Priority allows its holder to bring one extra bag as a carry-on. But it does not allow bringing extra liquids besides the one bag of liquids you already have in your first carry-on.
The Wizz Priority only grants benefits to boarding, the number of bags on the plane, and queuing in security.
3. What If My Luggage Is 1 kg Overweight With Wizz Air?
If your luggage is 1 kg overweight with Wizz Air, you have to pay an excess baggage fee. The average excess baggage fee is €13.00 per overweight kilogram.
But that’s not the end of the story. Some people think that they can just pay the fee and proceed as normal, but in some cases, especially on fully booked flights, overweight carry-on baggage may be required to check-in.
To avoid this from happening, check the baggage allowance of your tickets before packing. If you think you’re going to bring more stuff than allowed, consider purchasing Wizz Priority to get an extra baggage allowance.
Plan Your Trip Better With Wizz Air Cabin Bag Size And Baggage Allowance Guide
Understanding Wizz Air cabin bags and checked baggage allowances is one of the best ways you can plan your next holiday.
Remember to check your booking information clearly to know how much baggage you’re allowed with Wizz Air. Then upgrade your tickets to bring more bags if you wish. Wizz Air allows up to 6 bags of checked baggage and one free carry-on (another bigger one with Wizz Priority).
The easiest way to down-cost and down-size your packing is to invest in a good Wizz Air cabin-sized bag. This can save you from the trouble of paying extra for oversized baggage or, worse, having to check in what you intend to carry.
